1. Actions From Previous Meeting
1.1. Some progress has been made with changing our NatWest account signatories, although to date this is still ongoing.
1.2. Seven members attended the work party at Plough Pond on 18th May (T. Warncken; S. Warncken; N. Ponting; L. Teale; D. Dance; J. Blackwell; V. D’Souza). The platforms were coated with anti-slip paint (a second coat is required); the tree in peg 14 was felled; floating islands moved to give a fish refuge to the right of peg 14; grass mowed; damaged cormorant tapes retied; peg 13 rebuilt; lifebuoys checked and new ropes attached; floating island located in the left margin of peg 5 re-planted; a new lily planted to the left of peg 5.
1.3. Some cray fish traps have been installed; new ones have been ordered.
2. Sea Secretary’s Report
2.1. It was reported that the last trip provided excellent sport with 45 pollack caught.
2.2. Next trip is scheduled for 16th June.
3. Match Secretary’s Report
3.1. The Match Secretary reported that one match had been fished since the last meeting, all details are on the web site.
3.2. The next match will be at the Plough Pond on Sunday 26th May.
4. Treasurer’s Report
4.1. See printed minutes.
5. Vice Chairman’s Report
5.1. Plough Pond Development Plan – a company that provides coir rolls has been contacted. These are ideal for marginal planting. A 2 metre roll complete with plants and stakes costs approximately £100, excluding delivery. It was decided to purchase some for a trial once permission from the landowner has been granted. A successful trial should strengthen our future grant application with the Angling Trust. Nick Ponting to discuss the matter with the landowner.
6. Chairman’s Report
6.1. The club now has 70 members.
6.2. When fishing the river please ensure you display your car parking permit inside your front windscreen.
6.3. Amendments to the signs to be made including a reference to the availability of day tickets.
6.4. Our river bailiff is keen to attend the Angling Trust Voluntary Bailiff course. This will be arranged.
6.5. Water testing at the pond shows that the nitrate level is reducing. Some Nitrite was detected, though well below levels of concern. Levels of dissolved oxygen are currently high.
7. New Actions
7.1. The floating island near peg 20 needs relocating.
7.2. Strimming the pegs at Newbridge: 14:00 on 7th June. Please help if you can.
7.3. New signs warning of deep water will be purchased for the pond. These will be sited on the lifebuoy posts.
7.4. Nick Ponting to liaise with the landowner to level the track at the pond.
