A huge thank you to everyone who attended the latest Plough Pond work party! Thanks to the hard work of our volunteers, 50% of the overhanging trees along the island margin have now been removed. The tree between peg 3 and 4 was also successfully taken down, though some remains underwater and could present a snag issue—so please be aware if fishing that spot.
On a positive note, the plants installed as a Proof of Concept are thriving, having survived the winter and showing promising growth.
Special thanks to Leslie Teale, Danny Dance, Nick Ponting, Barry Sutton, Jim Pike, and Richard Stone for their time, tools, and effort in completing this great work. And, of course, a big thank you to Stephanie Warncken for keeping the team fueled with her delicious cakes!
Great work, everyone!
More work is required at both Plough Pond and the Newbridge Farm River stretch, and we would love to see more members get involved to help both venues fish well in the upcoming season.
